What we collect

Email address — only when you sign up for early access or create an account for Registered Free / Pro. Nothing else by default.

What we don't collect

Your bookmarks, reading queue, reading speed, and progress stay on your device by default. They only leave your device if you explicitly turn on cloud sync — see below.

Cloud sync (optional, opt-in)

If you turn on cloud sync in Settings → Account, the following leave your device and are stored on our servers:

Your data is isolated per-account — no other user can read it. We do not read your library for advertising, analytics, model training, or any other purpose.

You can turn cloud sync off at any time in Settings → Account. Turning it off stops new uploads; previously-uploaded data is not automatically removed. To delete your account and all synced data, use Settings → Account → "Delete account and synced data" in the extension.

Subscriber attributes

For customers with an account, we send a small set of non-content attributes to our subscription provider — max reading speed reached, session count, device type, locale — so that comeback emails can reference your actual progress. When cloud sync is on, we also include library sizes (bookmark count, queue count) as counts only, never the content. This is a core function of the subscription system; opting out means not creating an account.

Comprehension quizzes

AI quizzes use your own API key from the provider of your choice. Article text is sent directly from your browser to that provider using your key. We never proxy or log these requests.

Apple Health (iOS app)

On iOS, if you grant permission, Readit Fast logs your reading sessions as mindful minutes in Apple Health. This is write-only — the app writes mindful session entries and never reads any data from Health. Permission is optional; the app works fully without it, and you can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings → Health.

Analytics (iOS app)

The iOS app can collect anonymous usage analytics — feature usage and bucketed counts, never article content, URLs, or personal information. This is opt-in and off by default; nothing is sent unless you turn on "Share Anonymous Analytics" in Settings → Privacy. The identifier is a random value with no link to your identity, and turning the setting off regenerates it.

Subscription data

Billing is handled by a third-party subscription and payment platform. We store only the subscriber ID we receive from them, which we use to verify your Pro entitlement.
